Why Christianity?

The simple answer is because of Jesus. Everyone tries to find meaning in their life. We are wired to find our purpose and live out that purpose in whatever way we can. I found mine in Jesus Christ. The bible tells me that my whole duty is to fear (honor) God and keep His commandments (Ecclesiastics 12:13). It is only in the fulfillment of this scripture that I find my purpose on this earth. Jesus Christ died so that every human being can have eternal life. The peace that this knowledge brings is beyond anything I have encountered in this natural world. Jesus tells us that the greatest commandment is to love. What greater way to show my fellow human beings that I love them, than to enlighten them to the gift that God so freely gives to us, when we accept his son Jesus Christ. It is not God’s will that any of us should perish but that we should all repent and accept the eternal life He gives ( 2 Peter 3:9). Christianity is the only religion that offers such a significant gift for free, such forgiveness for the most vile of us, such acceptance to the rejected, such meaning to the lost and such love without condition.
I am well aware of the negative narratives that are propagated against Christianity and those that are self-inflicted by Christians and former Christians. I encourage everyone however, to encounter God for themselves. I can only describe what my headache feels like to you, I cannot show you. MRI’s and CT scans cannot detect headaches; there is no visual portrayal of what it looks like. The only thing your health care provider has with which to diagnose you is your own experience. Only you can know you are having a headache, it is entirely confined within your body. Christianity follows a similar impression. I can only describe God to you in terms of my experiences, until you have your own experience with Him it will be hard to understand and grasp His awesomeness. So forget what you think you know based on what you have heard from others (good or bad) and begin a relationship with Jesus Christ today. Have your own experience, for this no one can take away.
